Laura Jeanne Reese Witherspoon (born March 22, 1976) is an American actress and film producer, who is one of the highest-paid Hollywood actresses in recent years. Reese has several awards in her kitty - Academy Award Best Actress 2005 for 'Walk the Line', BAFTA Award Best Actress in a Leading Role 2005 for the same and several others like Screen Award. In 1990, Witherspoon attended an open casting call for The Man in the Moon with some friends, intending to audition as a bit player. She was instead cast in the lead role of Dani Trant. for which Variety magazine claimed her role as "memorably touching" .
