Chabert was born in Purvis, Mississippi, the daughter of Julie, a homemaker, and Tony Chabert, a French-speaking Cajun from Louisiana who worked as a maintenance operations representative for an oil company. Chabert made her start as young Cosette in Les Misérables on Broadway. Chabert was a member of the Broadway Kids which included Christy Carlson Romano, Chris Trousdale, and Greg Raposo.
