Early Life
Cauffiel was born in Detroit, Michigan; her mother was a police investigator and her father was Lowell Cauffiel, a true crime author and television documentary producer. She received a "Bachelor of Fine Arts degree" in Musical Theatre at the University of Michigan and once worked as an entertainment director on a cruise ship.

Cauffiel's first film role was a supporting part in the 1999 remake of the "The Out-of-Towners" and her debut TV role in Guiding Light. In 2000, she appeared in minor roles in both Road Trip and Urban Legends: Final Cut, and played one of the main characters in the 2001 horror film, Valentine.
