Smith was present at a gay pride event at Paramount’s Bay Area theme park, Great America in the Spring of 2007. Smith reportedly answered questions, concerning why she was present, with the comment that her sexual orientation was "very cloudy", and that she was "venturing toward [her] lesbian qualities".
